Question
We adopted a two year old female cavalier king charles spaniel about 10 months ago.  We got her from a breeder who had her in a crate most of the time for the first two years of her life.  We adopted her without meeting her so we didn't get to observe her beforehand.  She constantly walks in circles.  She can't go outside or come back in without making dozens of circles first.  We didn't know if this had something to do with being kept in a crate for so long.  What do you think?

Answer
This is fairly common for dogs that have been caged for long periods of time, and in fact it was a problem with one of my own dogs

With her,she never stopped it,but it did diminish over time and now she only does that when she is excited

Sometimes if it's really bad,the dog may need to be drugged, but only as a last resort

There are behaviorists that specialize in helping to fix dogs that spin non-stop,and it may not hurt to get in touch with one, some even evaluate the dog free
