Food exchange for puppies

Question
Labman- I have had labs all my life. The one I had for 14 years died a few months back. I bought a very good yellow male lab and he was on the food the breeder had him on. We bought some of it a few weeks ago and now its gone. I need to know when I can switch him from  his Eukanuba to the Merrick dog food, my other dog eats. Its been so long since I had a pup I can not recall when you can make the switch. Also, I'm currently living outside of Memphis, and I'm looking for a obedience training for him, but can not locate one without going with a gun guy, which I do not need because I'm disabled and can not do things like that. My other dog I mentioned is my granddog who is smart as a whip and she is doing a great job of assisting such as keeping the pup with her so the dog doesn't run. That is my biggest worry, that the dog will take off as he gets older. I want him to have his space but not 10 miles of it!So, I need a trainer. I would like to send the pup away and get him back trained.Do you know of any one, that is good? Oh, the pup is 11 weeks old. Look forward to hearing from you. Rick

Answer
There is a strong consensus on an early switch to adult chow.  How early?  That varies, anywhere from at weaning, to 7 months.  I tend to go with just short of 4 months, because that is when the bag of puppy chow I bought at 7 weeks runs low.  When you get low in the Eukanuba, start mixing in a little of the Merrick until at the end of the week it is all the Merrrick

Good trainers are hard to find.  I can't help with one in the Mephis area.
