ankle biters!

Question
I have three boston terriers ages 1,2.5 yrs, and 3 yrs. They all chase each other around and bite each other in the hind legs. Sometimes they are just lying by each other and I look over and one of them is knawing on the others leg! This is becoming a problem because my male dog ends up limpimg and it lasts for days. I have tried previcox and it upsets his stomach. I have also sprayed bitter apple on his back legs. Do you have any other ideas? Thank you in advance. Laura

Answer
Hey Laura
Try  getting them lots of different chew toys. Especially the kind you can stuff with treats. Lots of exercise will help immensely. A GOOD power walk every single day will work wonders. Try putting a tethered ball on poll in your back yard, hang ropes from low hanging tree limbs, anything to occupy mind, mouth and body :).
They are still very young and in truth Boston's are young forever! Obedience classes to give them a job is a SUPER idea! Think dog sports, frisbees, etc. Take them to a dog park or somewhere they can REALLY run a couple of times a week. Try to get them tongue hanging tired out at least three times a week whether it's playing fetch, tag, running with skates or a skateboard, whatever. You might also think about a lower protein food. A lot of people feed very high protein to already high energy dogs and get double trouble :)
Hope this helps
