Question
Sticking to a strict diet of good puppy food and dehydrated chicken for snacks and training.  Is there some vegetable that is ok, carrots, celery?and are they ok?

Answer
While carrots are widely recommended, it is mostly by those recommending other untested things.  I have read some bad things about them.  I have no proof of it, but it seems to me a dog could choke on a large piece of raw carrot or celery.  If you are going to use them, use small pieces.  Actually I see no need for them.  A piece of the dog's regular kibble works just fine, and you know it is safe.

I would also suggest switching to the adult version of the chow you are feeding.  Doing so slows growth, allowing the joints to develop under less stress.  For the same reason, keep her lean.  Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. Here is a link to a good illustrated guide, http://www.longliveyourdog.com/twoplus/RateYourDog.aspx  Both practices are well proven in the service dog schools' large, professionally managed, successful programs.
