Question
I have a five year old multipoo named Gismo.  He was given to me by an elderly couple that could no longer take care of him.  He is a great dog and the previous owners had him groomed every month.  I can't afford to have him groomed every month so I do it myself.  The problem I am having is his back legs and underneath has turned an orangish color.  I am looking for a home remedy to help this problem.  Got any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Donna,

A dog's coat changing color isn't a problem, if it's the only "symptom", it's probably due to the natural aging process.

If you've been clipping your dog's coat, it might be that the roots are a different color, and as Gizmo's hair grows in the color will be the same at it was it is long.

There are some color enhancing shampoos you can try. If Gizmo's usual color is dark, try Ultra Black Color Enhancing Shampoo. If Gizmo's natural color is light, or white try a whitening Shampoo. Don't shampoo your dog more than once a month, for some dog's that's too often. Over-shampooing can dry out a dog's sensitive skin.

Best of luck,

Patti
