Good dog food

Karen,
I was part of the old Hoflin group 12 years ago so I'm sure you can help me. I have a miniature Schnauzer puppy (5 months old) and want to start him on a really good dog food.  The breeder-recommended food has since been suspect in problems and they don't recommend this food any longer.  What do you feed your dogs? My last Schnauzer had food allergies/issues which I want to avoid this time.

I feed Eagle Original, although my oldest is on their Senior formula. I think Eagle's Holistic Chicken and their fish formula are their best products, but I have trouble maintaining weight on my dogs on anything but their Original due to the conditions here and the high level of exercise that my dogs get. They have 8,000 sq. ft. of fenced area on the side of a hill to run in, with lots of fallen trees to jump on and over. It does get pretty cold here in the winter with the NW wind blowing along the creek behind us and up that hill to our house. The dogs LOVE the fish formula!

I also highly recommend Canidae, Solid Gold, and Wellness particularly has some formulas which are good for some allergies as they have limited ingredients.
