Question
I have a 2 year old female mix breed. I think she is German Shepherd/Husky mix, but she has short - medium length, not the typical longer hair of the Husky or GSD. How can I determine what she is?

Also, she pulls pretty hard on the leash when on walks. I have tried a harness, failed. Choke chain, she almost chokes herself out. Buddy gave me a Halti collar and that SEEMS to be ok, it looks like I have a muzzle on her with it though. How can I train her to not drag me down the street? Thank you.

Answer
Even a highly experienced person can only guess at the breeds in a dog.  Complicating things is even if the mother was seen mating with a male, it is possible she mated with another one too and some of the puppies may have different fathers.  We once had a dog that was much shorter haired and smaller than his mother, and we never knew what he was.

I would continue with the Halti.  I have had good luck with the very similar Gentle Leader.  It is a pain when people conclude I have a dog in a muzzle.  That is all the worse in places I have to beg for access.
