Question
I have a three year old female Yellow Lab. 2 nights ago we brought home a 4 month old female Cane Corso that was given to us by a family member. My Lab doesn't like this dog at all. Is it woth trying to see if they'll ever get along? The puppy follows but my Lab growls and shows no signs of wanting to be nice to it. I see a little warming up but just a little. Too cloose face to face makes my Lab uncomfortableand she leaves the area. If it's too close she growls already there was an issue with a bone treat where the puppy came to the lab while chewing and the Lab left the bone ther. I took the bone from the ppuppy and said no!! The same thing almost happen in reverse but this became the only time the Corso has growled at the Lab.

Answer
This is more of an individual thing than the Lab/Corso issue.  Once past 3 years old, many dogs don't want anything to do with puppies, their sharp little teeth, and their biting games.  You need to teach the puppy to leave the older dog alone.  As soon as the puppy starts to focus on the older dog, give it a sharp ''Ah, ah, ah!'' and offer it a chew toy.

2 females are the combination most likely to have a problem.  To make this work will take strong leadership on your part.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
