Question
QUESTION: Good Morning, I just adopted a 1yr old black lab, she is very loving and beautiful. My question has to do with her eye color instead of dark brown eyes she has light brown like an amber color, they make her look strange. Could this be a result of a mix breed and if so any suggestions of what type? People look at her and ask me whats up with her eyes. I was told she was a black lab and everything else about her fits that description. Thank You

ANSWER: It could be German Shepherd,as they tend to have amber eyes, but some purebred labs have that too, though they can't be shown with that eye colour. Having a lighter colour doesn't mean the dog isn't purebred-though it is possible for her to have some shepherd in her that would give her the eye colour. There's no way of knowing for sure unless you had a a DNA test

QUESTION: Hi, thanks for your respone. Now I have another question reguarding my black lab puppy, he is 8 weeks old and it has been one thing after another with him, he has had worms and coccidia, he has had 2 weeks of treatment and it is finally clearing up. durning this process he has developed an bad eye infection, it looked better before I took him to the vets office, they are swollown, draining, and itching, he rubs his eyes on what ever he can to scratch them and he whines when he does that because they are so sore. I did  call the vets office back they said maybe they need to switch the eye drops. any suggestion on what this might be. My mom was thinking allergies, or possibly pink eye. the doctor says its because of the coccidia. I just know its not getting any better and I am worried. Thank You

Answer
It will probably be best for the vet to take a peek-I generally stay away from medical questions,as I don't have knowledge in this field, and don't want to hand out false information. It might also be a good idea to speak to the place where you got him from,as they may at the very least pay for some of the vet bills, and might be able to provide answers
