We have a 2.5 yr old German Shepard female, and we have found her a Sire also a pure bred, please advise when would be the best time to mate them?  she started her bleeding cycle 10 days ago, when would be the most chances of her becoming impregnanted?

Hi there,

Every dog's heat cycle is a little different, but generally 9-12 days from the start of the cycle a female dog begins the second phase of her heat cycle (called Estrus) during which she is receptive to being bred. During this phase she will still have discharge, which may be light pink to straw colored. The male will know when the female reaches this phase, and it's only during this phase that the female will allow breeding. The breeding phase lasts 5-9 days on average. Your veterinarian can identify the best time to breed your female dog.

So, it sounds like now is the time to try to breed your dog.
