dragging hind legs

Question
Whenever my dog sees me or is estatically happy she drsgs her hind legs across my carpet. Shes not scratching her anus on the floor but drags her stomach and hind legs flat on the rug. This aggravates me to no end. When i say "no", she stops but always returns to the behavior when shes excited. I hate this! Why does she do this and how do i stop her?

Answer
Hi Calisto,
This is an easy fix, but not a quick fix.   Repetition is what is needed here.
Keep some treats with you at all times.
First teach your dog to sit by using a treat.  Put the treat over her nose, and keep moving toward her back/tail until she looks up and has to sit.  If she isn't sitting push her butt down or if she stiffens up, sweep your arm under her back legs (going forward) until she is in a sitting position.  Give her the treat.  Once she knows how to sit, whenever you first see her after that, just excitedly tell her to sit.  You shouldn't have to correct her other habit and soon she will sit when you come home so she gets a treat.
Oh by the way, make it a really good treat, like liver (you can get it at the pet shop)
