Question
QUESTION: Hi marie, puppy delema again, riley was chewing a rawhide bone about 3inches long with two knobby ends im sure you know the kind, well I was concerned as he had been picking little pieces off that I took away,I was watching because i was affraid he would get a bigger piece off and possible choke, took my eye off him for a second and wouldnt you know the round end of the rawhide bone was gone I paniced,I looked for it hoping it got pushed to the side not likly with jaws it had to be the size of a quater maybe a little bigger it get a little mushy when chewed but I assumed he swallowed it I dont see how it would hurt if not choke him but he didnt bat an eye, once again hes got me crazy with worry.are these bones safe and do you think he will be ok if he did eat it.Im sure Rileys not the first.thanks in advance linda

ANSWER: Hi Linda- give riley some canned pumpkin - this will coat the bone and push it thru his belly to the intestines.  I don't think it will be a problem.  Watch his poop to see if it comes out...

As for the rawhides, I don't like any of them because too many dogs have died on them... Choking does happen.
I like the nyla bones - here is a link - I believe even NuVET sells them - NYLA BONES ARE VERY SAFE:

QUESTION: Hi Marie, its linda again I forgot to ask you something last time I have been so busy with RileyI overlooked something that may or may not be a problem kacey my 3 yr kitty had pooped a little out side the litter box and a little in the middel of the livingroom floor,It was very hard when i picked it upthought he just was constipated and couldent get it out.a week later I came home to find the same issue he had pooped in the livingroom not a lot just a few marbles and a few up the stairs and a few more in the bedroom again hard as a rock when i went back down stairs i saw he also peed on the kitchen floor in the area of the poo, thought the pressure of constipation maybe caused him to pee.kacey was sick some 8months ago with a bad bladder infection which need surgery to remove stone and sludge, he was fine in a few weeksnever had any problems since his surgery.why is he so constipated, also he looks a little heavier than usual and seems to drink more water than he used to,that doesnt say much he never was a big drinker.I have tried mineral oilthe doc told me that once he still is constipated.what could be wrong his diet is hills urinary tract diet same for dry .I hope you can help this bigger guy too.thanks  linda

ANSWER: Hello Linda- I have the heartworm and flea info links below - I tend to like the Heartgard Plus- ( for heart worms)

As for flea treatments - Natural is the way to go!  Neem Oil sprays and other Natural Holistic Sprays are preferred.  Just do a search on Natural Treatments for fleas ( or ) Homemade flea sprays....

Here is another option in flea treatments:

Brewers Yeast and Garlic tablets create an odor in pets that fleas are sure to avoid. You can find it in a chewable tablet and powder form. ( The NuVET products has this in each wafer....)
YOU would need more to avoid a large amount of fleas.
I would refer you to a bottle of just the brewers yeast and garlic combo.

Plant Marigold flowers:

Be sure to plant plenty of marigolds around the outside of your home, it repels fleas along with other types of bugs.
The breeding season for fleas is in the summer months. If you see one, you know there are many more.

Now, as for your cat- Kacey...
I wonder if you can add a little cottage cheese to his diet... Just 1 teaspoon per day.  Also, you can give him 50 IU of Vitamin E, just one per day.  Also, NuVET makes a feline formula for this boy.  Please call NuVET and ask for the feline formula.  He will need just a small amount of the powder mixed into some wet food or a little tuna each day.  The NuVET Feline will help him to build up his immune system and fight off his weakened system. Please call NuVET tomorrow and give order code 81098  ( 1-800-474-7044 ext 265)

The food he is on is a must for this boy... Don't change it, ok.
I would also add 1/2 a teaspoon of salmon oil per day.  Just mix this pure salmon oil into his dry food.

Ok, so that is it for now... Talk to you soon!

Answer
Oh Linda!  Riely had a serious allergic reaction to the bee.  Ask your vet for an EPI Pen - this is an injection that you would give to Riley if the happens again.  Very easy to learn how to do the Epi Pen.  It would avoid a 500.00 vet bill!

Now, I want you to go back to the begining and tell me what you are giving Riley.  I did not know you were still using the Mineral Oil, I never would recommend you keep using that.  Long term usage of mineral oil is very bad for him.
SO , Please tell me what you give each day.  Also, I need to know the times you are feeding this boy.  I need to know how the amounts of everything you are feeding him.. ( cups, teaspoons, tablespoons??)
Please give as much detail as possible.
I want to give you more direction on this boy.  BUT, I need to know eveything that goes into his mouth...

OK

I also have a kit you can buy for the flea sprays and other great items you can make for yourself and Riley... It is called the Essential 7 and I can teach you how to make Flea, Tick Sprays, Salves for wounds, and many other options for your boy with this kit.
You can learn to make very easy mixes of holistic pet supplies.

SO, MORE DETAILS ON HIS FOOD INTAKE AND ANYTHING BESIDES THE NUVET YOU ARE GIVING THIS BABY...
