Question
QUESTION: My dog is a 27# 9 yr. old Pug diagnosed w/ diabetes 2yrs ago and oxalate stones 1 yr ago.  He has also had mass cell cancerous tumors removed in the past and is getting benadryl. He has been on Hill's dry w/d food and his blood sugars go high after eating.  I am wondering if there is a better choice of food for him.  Either a dry food or maybe homecooking.  I am concerned with his diabetes and oxalate stones what I could feed him.  Any thoughts?  He is getting distilled water now (6 3/4 cups a day spread out), and is also getting Potassium Citrate Chewable tablets about 1360mg. a day (spread out).  He is being monitored closely at the vets.  But his vet has no idea what food would be a good choice for him.  I don't no what vitamins/supplements he would need or how to go about this.  Any advice???  I was told for the oxalate stones they should have a low protein high fiber food and veggies low in oxalate, but for his diabetes I was told protein is better.
Thanks in advance for listening and any advice!

QUESTION: I looked up the sojo's (green bag), but the ingredients have sweet potatoes and celery which are high in oxalate and it also has carrots which is high in sugars so I don't think this diet would be a good choice for my dog with his oxalate stones and diabetes.  Any other ideas?  Thanks for your help.
Katie

Answer
Hi Katie - with the SoJo's green bag ( grain free) - you use a small amount of the mix and a larger amount of meats.  The sweet potato and celery is in very small amounts....
You should give it a try and see.
