Question
I just got a female puppy Labrador and well I have been frustrated with her because all she does is cry and bark we give her water and food and play with her but I'm not sure what going wrong and she has been pooping and peeing all over the place and really I never had a dog and I don't know what to do????????????????????I'm desperate for any information we are giving her pedigree puppy food at the moment...

Answer
Puppies thrive on consistency and schedules.  They also need to be kept in smaller areas while they are learning about living in a how with humans.  How old is the puppy?  Remember, this is a hard time for the pup because they are no longer in the environment they grew up in, momma and littermates are gone.  It takes some time to adjust.

As far as the pooping and peeing, if you confined the pup to one part of the house, such as the kitchen or family room, you will be able to pick up on the signs the pup will give when it's time to potty.  A good rule of thumb is that the pup will need to go every time it wakes up, every time it's done playing, and about 15-30 minutes after eating.  It may also be a good idea to always take the pup out every couple of hours.

I would like to recommend that you pick up a few books on how to raise puppies, that will cover house-training and really help you since you have never owned a dog before.  Please consider buy and reading at least one of them.  The first two are my favorite and what I bought many years ago when I got my first lab!
