My lab is 14 and she has began to bark a lot when anyone comes over even family.Its just her and I, can you help tell me why or what I can do to help her stop barking so much.

Answer
At 14, her hearing and eyesight may be failing and she doesn't recognize them. She could even be less mentally sharp. There may not be much that can be done, but a vet visit would at least confirm any problems.

Help her recognize people as family. Greet them warmly. Dogs take their que from their owners. Call them by name and try to have her approach them and sniff them. Having them give her treats may help. They need to avoid making eye contact with her, petting the top of her head, and letting their teeth show in a smile. Dogs find those unpleasant and challenging.
