hair loss jack russell

Question
First of all, thank you so much for being available to us. I have just noticed some hair loss above her eye area and between eye and ear area that appears to not have a lot of hair left.  Never noticed that before on my little sweet jack Russell. She is 4 years old and I do not notice her scratching that specific area. Any ideas?
Also, I feel so incredible bad as her parent that I have been unable to buy her shot and she is late. She has had only the shots required in the first year and no follow up for more shots. I am wondering if she can get parvo now or is she still vaccinated?
I lost my husband, then mom, then home, then job, and now unemployment benefits. Is there a service for indigent people to obtain the care for their dogs in Sacramento CA?
You are a Godsend since I can not afford to go in to the vet and ask these questions. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Answer
Hi Laura,

Just keep an eye on the hair loss, she may have just rubbed it off, or if she sleeps on the same area all the time, that could do it too.  Parvo is given to new puppies and immunity is kept by yearly boosters but if she is an inside dog and not around a lot of other dogs, (especially other dogs poop!!) she will probably be ok.  I guess that goes for all the vaccinations but you should definitely call your city government office and ask about city run programs and veterinary services.  Some vets hold clinics and don't charge for vaccinations. YOu could call around your area and ask - you may be pleasantly surprised.  Another great resource could be the Animal Shelter in your area.. they have a wealth of information on how to get low cost or even free vet care.  I know times are tough for all of us, hopefully things will change soon!  Best of luck, I know you love her and are doing the best you can.

Hang in there.
