my golden puppy is aged 3 months and a half. A got him a month ago and feeded him with dry dog food as prescribed from the vet.I had him eat every days at the same time and did everyrthing as properly as told, but hes problem of diarrhea hasnt been solved.Occasonally I give him boiled rice eggs and white low fat cheese. The situation calms down a bit but then he starts again wioth diarrhea  several times a night with non solid slobber and sometimes even blood in teh stool.I hardly get to sleep of cleaning his corner.I msut mention that hes been given the antiparasite tablets regularly as prescribed every two weeks. There is only one vet in the place I live so is very difficult to take a second opinion somwhere else.He sais that teh codition of my puppy will settle down and there should not be so much worry...but I am at the and of my patience furthere more when I see my puppy eating well but with intermitent diarrhea and not gaining weight... and his ribs are so visible and all this makes me very sad!!!So please  if u can give some help on this...ill be more then grateful and my puppy will be too...i see he is suffering so much with not getting a good sleep of this problem.

Answer
I would like to see a second vet if it was possible.  Cut out the rice, eggs, and cheese.  Stick to just the dry dog chow.  Most Goldens will eat all they need of a dog chow.  If yours will eat more, just give it to him.  You should be feeding a puppy chow now.  Switching to an adult chow for the larger breeds at 4 months, slows growth and helps develop sturdier joints.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. The dry dog foods are actually better for the dogs.  It helps keep the teeth clean, and exercises the jaws and teeth.  If you feed a complete dog chow, you shouldn't need to give the dog anything else.

It may take a week or 2 for the antiparasitic tablets to work.   Once they clear everything out, he should settle down.
