Why are German Shepherds picky eaters?

I doubt anybody knows.  I haven't even seen much speculation.  Part of the problem is that many owners want to see less rib and over feed them.  Cut back a little on what you offer it, and it should eat better.  I once had one go 3 days on a few nibbles.
