my dog wont stop barking and scratching the windows!

hey, my dogs a cocker spaniel. he suffers from seperation anxioty and cant be away from me, this makes it very difficult. wev ordered a collar that aggittes him but it hasnt arrived yet. what do i do????

Hi Maddy, this is not an easy one, and a little out of my expertise, i would definately recommend you contact a behavourist and ask her/his advice they are very knowledgable in this area and im sure that would be able to help. However i would personally not use anything that would aggitate him, like the collar you have ordered that really is not the way to overcome this.
Do you have a puppy pen you could borrow or use, encourage him into this whilst you are there, fill with toys and let him know its his little space reward him when he goes in there, really really praise him, then gradually leave him in there, by the way you didnot say how old he was? leave him in there for five ten minutes at a time, and go out of the room, if he stays quiet, come back and reward him with a treat, let him know its fine to be left and you will always be coming back, its all about reward and repetition you will have to do this over a period of time, but it will pay dividends when you can leave your dog alone and happy and he will always be glad to see you when you return. I hope this helps, has he been castrated? let me know how old he is and what he does when you do leave him, but please dont try the collar yet, there are kinder ways to do this and solve this problem, you could make him worse! In the meantime a call to the vet wont hurt they may be able to give advice also.
