cocker spaniel with bad gas

Question
What can I feed my cocker that will make him quit passing bad gas all the time. I have have tried so many different dog foods including one with lamb and rice, have not had any success. We cannot even give him treats because you cannot stand the gas all day and night. Desperate for an answer. Thank You

Answer
I'm betting that you're feeding him kibble?  It has such a heavy carbohydrate load that it can cause this. Kibble is about 50% carbs - a premium canned food is less than 10%.

I'd switch him over (slowly) to a premium canned food like Canidae - AvoDerm - Eagle Pack Holistic - Solid Gold - Innova EVO and feed him 3x daily adding 1 tbsp. of plain, unflavored live-culture yogurt to each meal.

Go to Canidae.com and locate a dealer near you - if they carry Canidae they also will carry other good foods.
AvoDerm is now available at PetSmart.  Solid Gold at Petco.
My personal favorite for cockers is Canidae.

Switch over by adding a little more of the canned food each day (plus the yogurt) because some dogs can get an upset tummy from an abrupt food change.

I think this will solve his problem.
