Question
Thanks for the info. Our boys are 9 & 5. They want to play with him. They are not mean or teasing. Our dog has recently been showing some real aggressive signs towards the  boys. Last night he wouldn't let my 5yo come to me. each time he walked toward me, Shiloh would walk in front of my son eyeballing him. Then my oldest brought down his colar and if i didn't have a hold of shiloh he would have went after my son. he did bark at him. The scariest thing is my husband bought him a bone thinking it might help. But it made it worse. each time the kids would get near it he would chase them away. I grabbed his colar and had my son pick it up and i thought that dog was going to attack. I don't know what to do at this point. I know we need to walk him more but if he is this aggressive inside i'm afraid what he will do outside. HELP

Answer
Twila, you need a trainer.  A one-on-one good trainer who comes to your house.

What's happened here is the dog recognizes you & your husband as pack leaders but sees the children as below him in the pack order.  Not uncommon at all

Can this be fixed?  Absolutely yes but it's time and training.  If you're not able to do it and aren't committed to it, then I suggest turning the dog over to a RESCUE..not the pound..if you tell me where you are I can try and locate a Cocker Rescue Group.  A rescue will keep him - train him - and find him a suitable home.
