Question
QUESTION: my 3 month puppy cocker spaniel is having severe pain in his neck. He cry a lot.  We took him to the vet got X-rays.  The X-rays show no signs of anything.  The vet prescribed a muscle relaxer and Trimanol.  It has been 6 days and I see no signs of improvement.  My puppy stools, has a good appetite and gets up to urine.  He cry when he eats and have to move from his bed.  He spends the day with his head relaxed on a pillow.  I don't know what to do, I feel really awful.

ANSWER: Have you phoned your vet and told him this?  There's something terribly wrong here and if this were my pup I'd be getting another opinion if this vet has nothing more to offer.
Do you have a vet ER in your city or town?  They have much more sophisticated equipment and he may need an MRI.

If something isn't helping, it's imperative you let your vet know and I wouldn't have waited 6 days.  So call him now.  In the meantime, elevate his bowl so he doesn't have to bend his neck.

Best of luck,
Delores

QUESTION: I took my pup to the emergency ER on Sunday.  They took the ER.  Everything showed fine on the Xray.  On Monday I went to my vet.  He prescribed a second medication.  We also have his bowl elevated.  The vet informed us to do this.  The vet is saying it may be a soft tissue injury.  but he is not showing any signs of improvment. Should this be happening to a puppy.  How long will it take to heal.

ANSWER: What did ANYONE do for this pup's pain?  This dog is hurting.
What was prescribed?  Did the ER only do an x-ray?  What was the 2nd medication?

QUESTION: The ER prescribed my pup Timiodol.  The Vet prescribed Roboxin and Remidal.  The ER did a x-ray and checked his neck and spine. No signs of anything.  The 2nd medication is the Roboxin and Remidal. One of these is a muscle relaxer.  My pup now just lays in his bed and only moves his eyes and shakes a little.  I called the doctor and he has not given a lot of advise.  He said possible soft tissue injury.

Answer
Do you mean Tramadol?  Your vet is useless...I'd definitely get a 2nd opinion.  Go to another vet and see which ones are AAHA accredited in your area.

I'm so sorry for your puppy.  And can NOT believe your vet's attitude.
Get proactive...find another vet immediately.  This pup is in huge trouble and why didn't the ER do an MRI on him?
