QuestionI have a cocker spaniel, and she is about 10 years old! and when she is laying down sleeping in her bed she tends to shake alot. I dont think she is cold , and i was wondering what it could be? or what i should do?
AnswerTake her to the vet. At age 10 shaking is a sign of pain and she probably has arthritis. Don't use Rimadyl...ask your vet for some Metacam (safer with less possible side effects) and start with 1/2 the recommended dose.
There's also DogGone Pain which is an herbal pain reliever and many people have had great luck with this. PetSmart carries it.
Again - start with 1/2 a dose. It all goes well (you never know what can upset their tummies) then increase it
Also, make sure her bed is in a warm, draft free place.
Is she active? Walks okay? Make sure she gets daily "gentle" exercise...as with us, it's "move it or lose it".
When was the last time she had a complete Wellness check? At this age they need it twice a year to catch problems early.
Best of luck and do write with any other questions.
