Dog (mostly cocker spaniel with poodle)

Buster has been itching so much that he now has sores and scabs all over. We have tried everything.....change of diet, predisone, allergy pills, different groomming supplies....
The vet has now said that they have nothing else to try and we needed to take him to Purdue which is very expensive.
Is there anything else we could try?

Melissa, how often are you bathing?  Have you tried an antihistimine?

You mention "allergy pills" - what were they?  Is his skin infected?

I will tell you that family vets more often than not, give not enough antibiotic and not for long enough...so things look better and a month or so later, it's all back.
