Feeding my 5 month old cocker spaniel

Question
Hello,

I recently inherited a 5 month old cocker spaniel puppy from a family friend. The dog came with all the necessary grooming equipment.  Also a big bag of generic dry dog food. I fixed the puppy some and he will not eat it. I have reason to believe that they fed it a lot of table scraps, how can I break this, and what will be a good food to put him on? dry or canned??? Thanks so much!!

Answer
Hi Chereall, im not sure if you can get it but i feed my cocker on James Wellbeloved, she enjoys this and its completely natural with no additives or colourings, she may well not be used to dry food, you could try mixing his dried food with a good canned food, he should be having two meals a day breakfast and supper, table scraps are not good for him and if you dont give in to his fussiness, he will soon learn that what you put down for him is his food, if he dosent eat it within the first hour pick it up and put it back down at supper time but dont give him anything in between, he will soon eat when he is hungry, dont let him go too long though if he still refuses to eat i would make a telephone call to the vets and ask their advice. I really hope this helps.
Best wishes with your pup
