Question
QUESTION: Delores, Thanks for your info to others. I've used the Nizoral Shampoo and think it is taking care of the Papilloma virus, first 3 days treatment. Will the pink skin tabs go away? Next, the Zymox, is that with other meds? And will Dermachlor Rinse do as well on the ear cleaning. Thanks, Ralph

ANSWER: Ralph, I'd have to go back and re-read your original question if I can find it...so can you refresh my memory?

Nizoral is first choice with Dermatologists...it kills everything :) so I'm happy that's helping.  But I need to know precisely what's going on with the ears...but I have no clue with "Dermachlor Rinse" is.

Zymox line is an amazing ear product.  You use the cleaner as you would any cleaner.  The meds - I need to know what's going on.

QUESTION: I had just read an answer to another Cocker owner and it matched my dog problems with his skin. I tried your suggestion, "use Nizoral" it works, kills everything...the ears, routine Cocker ear problems, we keep them flushed out about every couple of weeks and they seem to be just fine. My question was does the Zymox have any meds in it or just straight Zymox? Ralph

Answer
Okay...Zymox has a cleaner and two different meds.  They're the same but one has hydrocortisone in it.  You ONLY use that if the ears are inflamed/swollen.  And only use it 'till that goes down then switch to the Hydrocortisone-Free med.

What I do when I see an incipient ear problem is use the cleaner for maybe 3 days in a row (sometimes that's enough).  It it's not - go to the med.  Do NOT clean during med treatment.  Do NOT clean out the med..it's supposed to stay in there.  Just wipe off the ear flaps. (The cleaner you use as you would any cleaner).

And, Ralph, do not read "what matched" with another owner...talk to me, it's what I'm here for.

So how is the skin issue?  Tell me more about that and if you've given antihistimine therapy a shot.

You can order Zymox on line.  I use EntirelyPets.com but others have it too.  Best stuff!
