Cocker Spaniel Vomiting

Question
Dear Delores, I was "googling" around and noticed that you responded to someone's post on 10/22/2012 about their Cocker Spaniel throwing up liquid/partially digested dog food.  My female Cocker also does this!  Same scenario, hours after she has her evening meals, and it usually happens around 3 to 5 am in the morning.  The feeding habits are the same as the other person, 1 cup split into two feedings, 8am and 5pm, regularly seen by the vet, no issues whatsoever. As of today, we are going to feed her her dry dog food earlier and see if this helps.  It is almost like she has a doggy form of GERD.  I caught her doing this at 4am last week, and she gets up right out of a dead sleep, dry heaves and then pukes.  This never happens during the day.   I was feeding her lamb/rice diamond brand, but we have tried blue buffalo, etc.  We aren't changing her diet all of a sudden, we have done it gradually, and we keep her on a specific food for at least a month before we change.  She is now on Max for small breeds, and we have cut it back even more now.  She is not at all underweight.  As of today, we will cut out all snacks, which are not people food FYI. She was only getting a couple a day.

Answer
She's vomiting about 10 hours after eating.  So Beth..what I'd like you to try tonight is to feed her dinner later..around 7pm...and then as late as possible give her another small meal.

I'd first want to eliminate that this is a simple "empty tummy" syndrome.  Do that and let me know what happens.

Stay away from Diamond foods.  Blue Buffalo is okay.  And why are you using a "small breed" food?  Does she chew her kibble?
