Question
my wife worries about our 5 year old cocker...he weighs 30lbs as he has for 4 years and appears to be in perfect health...i give him the occaisional pig's ear from the pet store..he gets between 5 and 6 milk bone treats a day as per instructions on the box..1 per 7lb of weight and because i work in a place with a subsidised cafeteria, i also garnish his dry dog food (Iams) with a litle turkey breast or other lean meat...garnish being the operative word...90% is the Iams is he going to suffer or does this sound like a healthy regime to you..

Answer
A little bit of this and that won't hurt.  He would do as well or better with less added to his diet.  Even more important is his total calories and exercise.  Check this link and adjust if needed, http://www.puppychow.com/products/popup_body_condition.aspx
