QuestionDelores. Once again I want to tell you that I appreciate your assistance. The
last time I emailed you you answer with a few questions. You asked what
tests and exams were done. I don't know exactly but I do know that they did
blood work and examined his mouth. I did get a second opinion and they did
more tests and also mentioned that he is perfectly healthy. Somewhere along
the way I was told that he just produces an extra amount of saliva. I was told
that this could be fixed with a proceeder but in todays economy I am
reluctant to spend an excessive amount of money as our futures are ever so
uncertain. I have yet to follow up with my vet but I will do so this week. You
had asked what I am feeding this dog. I am feeding him, Innova Eva red meat
dry dog food. You should also know that he also sheds excessively. I had
thought that he would stop shedding but it seems to be a year round thing. I
am also beginning to think that this may be related to his ears as they get
dirty and I probably don't clean them as much as I should however I will
begin to clean them on a daily basis. Thanks again and I look forward to your
recommendations.

AnswerInnova EVO is an excellent food with no grains so I doubt that's the problem.
Please do NOT clean his ears "daily" - far, far too much. Every cocker is different. I have one that needs weekly - one that needs monthly. Just check..look and sniff :)
Are you using the water/vinegar mix to wipe his mouth out? Are you brushing his teeth?
Mix 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar. Soak a small cloth - squeeze out and get in there with your finger. He may be "holding" food in his chops so clean the lips & folds. At the least, this will clear any bacteria and may well help the saliva problem.
Also - use both the red meat formula and the chicken/turkey formula and I strongly suggest using canned also. Just rotate them.
As to the shedding - are you brushing him daily?
