seizures

My 3 year old cocker just had what I think is a seizure, I have had many cockers and have never experienced this before. I did not know what to do so I just held him until it was over. What causes this and will it hurt him? should I take him to the vet? it really scared me.

Hi Jammie, i am so sorry this has happened to your boy,it does sound like a seizure, but i am no expert, i think you done the right thing by holding him until it was over, that way he couldnt hurt himself (well done), but honestly i would really take him to the vets, they will do a blood test, and there is medication available to stop these seizures happening, take him as soon as you can and tell the vet exactly what happened what time and how long he took to come out of it.  I wish you well and hope your boy will soon be much better.
