Question
We have 2 golden cockers, male & female, out of the same litter. They are now 13 months old and fantastic pets. Toby is 14.75 Kg; Susie is just on 13 Kg. Together, they are very active and Toby has a voracious appetite.

How many meals a day should these dogs have? We are led to understand that by now they need only one meal a day but that seems a large meal for a relatively small stomach and ? still growing (and not overfeeding them). Is two smaller meals per day a satisfactory compromise?

In passing they will eat anything from avocardo to broccoli!

With thanks.

Answer
I feed my own adults 3x a day.  Twice is fine.  I'd never do once a day.

And Toby may need more food than Susie.  Like people, they all have different metabolisms and the feeding guides are just that..guides.

It also may depend on what you're feeding them.  Top quality foods are better and more satisfying because they're higher protein.  And cockers do far better on a grain free food
like Innova EVO or Orijen.  Nutrition is key to keeping them healthy.
