Question
I HAVE A 3 YR OLD COCKAPOOH 1/2 SPANIEL 1/2 POODLE.
CORMACK IS ALWAYS LICKING EITHER ME, THE BED, OR BLANKET. LAST NIGHT HE WOULDN'T STOP. I THINK DUE TO AN UPSET STOMACH. IS THIS A TRATE OF THESE TYPES OF DOGS? HE LOVES TO CHEW SOCKS, AND HAS EATEN NOT CHEWED SHOES.

THANKS

Answer
Hi Chris,
As far as I know this isn't a trait. I've never had this problem with my Cockers. However, if it is becoming an issue with Cormack I suggest visiting the vet. I personally think it's a learned behavior, however, I would see the vet just to make sure its not an indication of anything physically wrong. I think licking is Cormack's way of comforting himself, just as a child sucks his thumb. When he is doing this, perhaps take Cormack and cuddle him lots, let him know he's secure.

I wish you all the best!
