special diet?

child is allergic I believe to the dander of dog,  isn't there a special diet I can put him (the dog) to decrease dander?     thanks   linda

Hi Linda,

A high-quality diet, ideally with no or low grains, will help to keep your dog in good health and so minimize dry skin/shedding, which can contribute to allergy problems.  Regular brushing with a rubber curry comb or "Zoom Groom" will help, as well.  However, along with the dander many people are allergic to dog saliva, and there's not much to do about that.  The only real solution - aside from getting rid of the dog - is to treat the allergic child.
