Question
i was just woundering, i have an 11 month old boxer and for the last 2 days and he has been peeing every five minutes. is this normal or could he be sick. we also just moved from va to illinios and the wheather is very cold here. he has been in a kennel for the past 4 months and we picked him up 2 days ago. is their anything we should do, and how can we prepare him for the cold wheather.

Answer
A vet visit is a good idea; with the stress of a move and being in a kennel, he might have developed a urinary tract infection.

As far as the cold weather, in general Boxers are fine for short periods outside (to potty, for example) - he may need to take some time to acclimate to the cold at first.  If you're walking him, and will be gone more than 10-15 minutes at a time, you might consider a coat and possibly boots.  I'm generally not one for dressing up dogs, but when they can't choose when to come inside (on a long walk), or if there's a lot of salt on the roads, some protective measures may be helpful.  (If he's very active on the walks - which many Boxers are - then he may keep his body temperature up enough that he won't need a coat; you'll need to judge that on an individual basis.  If he refuses the boots, just be sure to wipe his feet when you get home - salt can get stuck between the pads and cause burns or irritation.)

Good luck!!
