Upset stomach?

Question
8 Months ago my neighbor came home with a beautiful Boxer puppy and I immediately fell in love. I babysat her a couple times as a puppy. Since then she will run away from home to come see me and literally kind of knock on my door.

I had a feeling it wouldn't work out and just found out I was right. So knowing how much I love this dog they have offered to sell her to me.

I want her very much, however I have no interest in purchasing an ill animal.

As usual Egypt came knocking at my door today and I let her in and gave them a call to let them know, and was told she could have a sleep over if I wanted.

So, she's been here not even 12 hours, I noticed she kind of has a I don't know, I wouldn't say cough, but she kind of makes a huffing sound occasionally. She doesn't eat too much, just a bit then takes a drink and lays down by my feet where ever I am. Now, she's been spitting up after she eats, like a super wet burp. Definitely not vomit or heaving, just a bubble of air followed by the food and water she just ate coming back up. Still in great spirits and acting like herself.

I have been reading Boxer sites and Googling for quite sometime, and have seen this exact problem about 5-6 times now, most threads say not a huge deal, could be the food.

If that is the case, great, she can move on in and burp up any time she feels like it. However, if this is a symptom of a serious problem I don't think buying her and getting my family attached, like I already am, would be a good idea.

Is this a somewhat normal occurrence in Boxers?

Answer
I do believe it's the food.

The indigestion and burping, are signs of her not digesting her food well, and it not agreeing with her. Something in the food is causing this.

From the sounds of her owners, they probably feed her a cheap brand food.

I would buy her, giver her the loving home she wants and needs, and love her as you already do, and feed her an all natural dog food.

Google "all natural dog foods" and you'll come up with a lot. BoxerWorld.com forums have a section of wealth on health and diet, with recommended foods. Join up. Go to their forums. Also BoxerForums.com.

Pick a food that does NOT have corn, corn meals, corn products, and bi-products.

Corn is probably the issue here. Boxers are sensitive to it, and it is not good for them, or any breed dog. It is a "filler."

You want her on an all natural Lamb and Rice and a Chicken and Rice.

Switch up, giving her a variety.

Don't let her over eat. Start her out with a proportioned amount and see how she does. Then, gradually allow her to self-feed if she does well. Fresh water always.

To help her digestion and stomach, feed her plain whole (unflavored) yogurt mixed in with her dry food that you selected.

The yogurt is a good bacteria for her stomach and dogs love it.
