Question
i have a seven month old soft brindle puppy with lots of love he had a boxing match with parvo due to breeding complications but he has survived and recovered remarkably although  i notice occasional bloodstrained stools.he is on ivermectin for skin mites...is prolonged antibiotic treatment a cause of this or do i need to take further investigative action after all hes my 'baby' or is there a specifically recommended food for him

Answer
The bloody stool might be some lingering effects of the parvo; it's no a common side-effect of ivermectin, though I would say it's not an impossible result.  If the blood is red, and just on the surface of the stool, it may be a minor gastrointestinal irritation; if it is dark or tarry that's a larger concern.

As far as food, there is a good site where can evaluate different foods at ww.dogfoodanalysis.com

Good luck!!
