Dry Cat Food

Question
Hi Barb,

I have two cats: one is an overweight pig, and the other is tends
to be thin, because he doesn't eat very much and is a bit picky.  I
feed Mr. Piggy Solid Gold because it's lower in fat content,
therefore I can feed him more.  Mr. Picky Eater has been on
several.  The best one I've found is Flint River Ranch, because it
is so concentrated, he doesn't have to eat so much of it to
maintain his weight.  He was too thin on Solid Gold, and Inova.
The both dislike Wellness.

The problem: Flint River Ranch is $41.00 for 20 pounds.  Solid
Gold is half that.  Both are high quality, natural, made from
ingredients fit for human consumption.  Is there another dry
food you would recommend for Mr. Picky that isn't so expensive?
I may stick with FRR food because it's working, but it would be
nice to find one that works that is less money.

Thanks!
Colleen

Answer
Hi Colleen,

I am not sure where you live, but I have never heard of the types/brands of cat food that you mention.  The only one I am somewhat familiar with is the Wellness brand.  I prefer to feed my cats IAMs.  There is also Science Diet and Max Cat.  All are premium cat foods and are good nutritional choices.  I suggest you try one of these, and see if they both don't stabilize in weight after awhile.  It's not good to reduce a cat's weight too fast.  It's better done slowly.  Otherwise, the liver can be adversly affected.  Good luck and please, write again if I can be of further help.  Barb
