Cats paws dry

Question
My cat is about 8 months old and his paws...as in the little dots sometimes peel or are dry.  He doesn't seem bothered by it at all or show any signs of any other irritation.  I know he is healthy since he has been to the vet, finished his shots, and has gotten neutured recently also.  Is this normal?

Answer
Hi Anita,

Not so sure this is normal.... as I have never seen it.  What kind of food do you feed?  I have found that for an all round healthy diet for cats, you need to feed one of the preium cat foods.  This will give them all the nutrients they need to be healthy.  I feed IAMs myself, but Science Diet or Max Cat are also good.  It sounds like he might not be getting enough oil in his diet?  Or maybe it is just an idiosyncrasy in your cat.  I would rub lanolin into his paw pads just to make sure they don't crack or bleed.  Please let me know if I can be of further help.  Barb
