Why does he do this?

Question
my little cat who is a boy....the only male cat in my house,
acts strangely about his food. he comes in and acts all
friendly and loiters around you if you are sitting and if you
get up he races towards his food and cries and is nice to
you but gets to be really anoying because he wont eat
unless you are with him...and he makes sure that you are
there before he eats. he does eat other times, but he likes
doing it with company. why does he do this? its very
agitating and an annoyance because sometimes in the
middle of the night he will cry and you will follow him and
he will just want to eat. it seems ridiculous. his mother was
like this too so maybe its genetic. how can i stop this? its
very much a bother.

Answer
Some cats just have their odd little ways.  No one knows why.  But if his mother did it, that's where he got it.  If he eats dry food, just take a bowl of it into your bedroom at night and put it by your bed so he doesn't wake you at night.  And when you are in another room, take a bowl of his food with you so he can always eat while you are with him.  This will stop his annoying meowing and dragging you into where his bowl is usually kept.  Good luck.  Barb
