My cat has had sores on his...

Question
My cat has had sores on his gums and possibly down his throat for about 9 months.  He has been on antirobe and prednisolone off and on for the past 9 months as well.  It really helps sometimes, but it is getting harder to get him to take it.  Today I got injectable pen-aqueous.  Do you know if there is a cure for this painful situation?  He is having a hard time eating and drinking and he is also losing a little weight.

Answer
Kathryn,

I am not a vet, and, normally, do not answer veterinary questions, but it is quite clear that the problem is probably not a gingivitis.  It might be some kind of autoimmune stomatitis or the like. CMO has sometimes been useful in treating autoimmune problems.

You might also look into the cat being treated with a cold light laser for relief of some of the symptoms.

Most of all, I would see a vet immediately and strongly suggest that antibiotics are not helping at all.  If your vet won't listen to you, then it may be time to find another vet.

Good luck and best regards... Norm.
