Hello:

I recall a hile ago, you sent me a link about two new Chinese Cat breeds-the Chinese White and the Dragon Li. Besides the link you provided:
http://members.shaw.ca/bjbelanger/China.htm
do you have any other information pertaining to these new breeds?

Is there such a breed as the Irish Shorthair? According to Messaybeast.com, the Irish Shorthair is the:

Suggested name for recreating cats of the pre-war British Shorthair type Modern British Shorthairs are cobby and plushly furred from outcrossing to Persians. Cats of the pre-war type are still found in Ireland and Scotland; a new name would be required to differentiate them from the modern British Shorthair. This is, thus far, hypothetical.

Do these pre-war cats have a specific name? Do you have any information about the Irish Shorthair?

Are there any other Scottish cat breeds besides both versions of the Scottish Fold?

Are there any Belgian, Austrian, Swiss, German, Dutch, Swedish, Greek cat breeds, and breeds from Denmark?

A while ago, I contacted TICA and the CFA-they gave me information about who to conact regarding cat breed in the West Indies and the Caribbean.

Are you familiar with a British Abyssianian breeder called Abfabs? I tried e-mailing the person who runs Abfabs-I was trying to find out what countries AByssians and Somalias are imported to-but I hadn't got a response form her. How do I and how shouls I conact her with these types of inquires? Please let me know. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Mr. Jason Goldman

Answer
Jason,

AFAIK, I have answered most of the above questions for you in previous emails!

The best way to contact Abyssinian breeders and owners is through the Abys-List at Yahoo Groups.  Send an email to:

Abys-list-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

to subscribe.

As far as individual breeds originating in various European countries, the messy beast web site is still the best and most complete source for such information.  For the most part most breeds originated in England or the the USA with some of these breeds being imported form various parts of the world.

The notable exceptions are the Chartreaux and the Sacred Cat of Burma (Birma) both of which originated in France. The Russian Blue and Siberian originated in Russia.  The Norwegian Forest Cat did originate in the Scandinavian countries.

I think that's about it.

Best regards... Norm.
