Question
Becky,

I have a cat of 2 years she is a Siamese cross, she always has food in her bowl and fresh water and is well looked after and loved by me and my family. I am however a tad concerned as she always appears to be a tad under weight,(to the point where neighbours think we neglect her, which i find incredibly rude and frustrating considering how pampered she actually is) this in no way effects her behaviour, as she is always running around, hunting and getting into all sorts of mischief. Is this to do with her breed type or do you reccommend a trip to the vet.

Kind Regards

Kelly

Answer
Hi Kelly!

Siamese are bred to be long, slender, well muscled cats!  They are not fat cats and never will be. Your cat obviously has taken on the traits of the Siamese breed.  If you cannot see any bones, then your cat is not underweight!  If you cat is eating good, active and healthy looking then you should not have to visit the Vet.  Tell your nosey neighbors to look up Siamese on the internet and take a look at some of the show cats.  I'm sure they would think they are anorexic!!!  LOL   In other words, don't worry, it sounds to me like you have a normal cat with Siamese genes.

God Bless,
Becky
