my cat Susie just recently starting pooping about a foot a way from her litter box. she is about 9 years old. i called my vets office they said they did not know why and seemed unconcerned. i keep her litter box very clean. she seems happy other than that. if i can't get the problem fixed, my husband will make me give her away. please help me.

First of all, you need to make it very clear to people that animals are not disposable and you will not be giving it away under any circumstances.  It really annoyed me when you said that your husband will make you give the cat away because of a simple litterbox problem.  I would have gotten so mad if my husband had even mentioned that haha.  


To fix the litterbox problem, you need to make sure there are no odors in the box that could  be keeping her from using it.  Also you may want to change the brand of litter to a different, unscented brand.  Scented litters do not fool cats into thinking that the litterbox is clean.  In fact, perfume wards off cats.
