QuestionA shelter adoptee, this young cat has been spayed within the year, but continues to act as though she is in heat-wiggling, meowing etc. Can this be explained behaviorally? Since we know that she has been spayed, what could account for this type of behavior and how shall we handle it?

It's quite possible that a small piece of ovary was missed during the original spay surgery, that happens from time to time and would explain the signs of estrus that you're seeing. Ultimately most people opt out of doing anything, however if you wanted to do something maybe the veterinarian would be willing to discuss further surgery.
