My cat seems scared...

Question
First, I will start here, I have has Ozzy since he was 9 weeks old.  We rescue him from a local shelter.  I have 2 others, one male and one female.  We have had Ozzy (male) for 2 years.  He has always been a bit skittish, but today when I got home, he was behind my washer & dryer.  I tried to lure him out with food, and I cried, and I called him.  He didn't want to come out.  My boyfriend got home and pulled out the dryer, and we got him.  I left a little while later, and when we got back, he was behind our dresser.  I know when he hears gun shots, or fireworks, he gets scared, but he always comes out for me.  I love him dearly, he is my baby.  I personally think he looks small.  My other 2 are big and fat.  Do you have any clue what could be wrong with him?  I would appreciate any and all help.  Thanks, Ashly

Answer
Hi Ashly.  A lot of times, when a cat starts hiding, it's because he's very, very sick.  So I would get him to the vet immediately.

If all checks out with the vet, maybe he was spooked by something.  The best way to get him over that is usually to place him in a small, dim room with minimal noise or traffic, with food, water and litter.  He may need to spend a few days in there until he calms down.
