Question
We recently adopted a stray male on my horse farm.  Because we weren't sure if he'd stay, and with holidays, we did not get him neutered yet.  He did, however, get his shots and was wormed.  He is approximately 1-2 years old.  He left after the first month for about a week.  He came back and stayed.  Christmas night, we saw him leave again.  He has not yet returned.  There is a cat door to get inside, which he has used, as well as a constant supply of dry food and water set out.  We also have two other kitties.  We are thinking that he has either met his demise, found a new home, or has taken off looking for girlfriends for a while.  My question is, should we totally give up hope?  We have went looking around his regular tracks and have found nothing.  We have also checked the sides of the surrounding roads and ditches in case he got his by a car. How far is typical for a non-neutered male to travel to mate?  We miss him and his happy/grouchy demeanor and planned on getting him "fixed" and keeping him.  We do not believe in letting our "barn" cats fend for themselves and keep a constant supply of dry food out, they have a large heated water bowl, and are given wet food in the morning and night.  I'm proud to say that as a reward for providing care, we have never had a mouse in the barn!  I'd like our newest buddy back!

Answer
Hi Sue, I'm checking back with you to see if your "tom cat" found his way back after his adventures?
