Question
Our mother cat has started nursing and taking care of the kittens. She had five healthy kittens. We had to open the sacks, cut the cords and stimulate the kittens ourselves. We thought the mother was just not the mothering type during birth, but now know she was absolutely exhausted during birth. But now is back to her normal self. The births took a total of 11 hours, didn't ever think it was going to end.But to see them all healthy it was more than worth it. Thanks for the help and your concern. Sincerely,Jason and Stacy

Hi Stacy,
I just read this. I hope that the mom is feeding the kittens. If not here is a link that is very good for explaining everything on how to raise your "orphan" kittens.

This is an explanation that is pretty simple and straight forward of what you need to do. The only difference that I have done when raising orphans is to mix the KMR with my own formula of stuff called kitty glop. It is a very nutritious formula for the kittens. If the mom is not nursing them write back to me and I will give you the formula. Remember, the two most important things the kittens need are warmth and to keep them hydrated. Good luck and let me know what happens.

Answer
Hi Stacy,

I am glad all went well. You can do one thing that will help mom out. Try feeding her kitten food. I recommend Purina One. It has the high nutritional values she needs while feeding the kittens. Good luck with your littles ones.
