QuestionMy female cat for the past day and a half has been drooling and smacking her mouth. There is a brownish tint to her saliva. Is this something i should be concerned about?
AnswerHi Josie,
Yes you should take your cat to the vet as soon as possible. The brownish tint is most likely blood and could be from a nosebleed (which may or may not be serious), an oral abscess, or she could be vomiting up blood into her mouth from a stomach ulcer. Hopefully she just had a nosebleed that has drained downwards, but it's best not to wait and see.
