cat after birth

i dont know for sure if my cat was pregnant. it looked like it but i'm not sure. i'm new at caring for cats. my cat was outside and she came to the door meowing over and over again. we opened the door and realized she was bleeding from her vaginal area. the only thing we could think of is she just had kittens. is there any other reasons for her bleeding? if so, how do we locate where she had the kittens if she did give birth?   please help a.s.a.p we really need to find the babies.

Hi,
It is possible that she had babies, as bleeding will sometimes occur after birth.  If she seems healthy, she should lead you to her young ones when let outside again.  If she is a new mother, she may have just abandoned them and chances of finding them will be slim.  Look under bushes, in dark hidden places around your home.  She would have wanted a safe place to have them.  Also, listen closely, as you will hear them whimpering, as they are probably hungry.
