excape kitty

my kitten loves being out side, but we live in a housing complex and we don't have a back yard. she wont jump fences, so the only way to catch her when she gets out is to corner her at a fence. whenever you open the door she bolts, and she is very quick and small. she got out again today and went to her favorite place, a neighbors back yard, the neighbors were not home at the time but they always keep there gate open i decided to go inside and wait to catch her until they got home, well the lady got very angry that she was out again and threatened that if my cat went into her backyard again she would set a trap and take it to the humane society. i don't want to lose my cat, how do i stop her from getting outside, and still being able to release her energy??

Hi Amanda,

You need to have a lot of interactive time with your kittie. Play with her a lot. But if she makes a dive for the door, punish her. Use water,a loud noise, a light smack. Any of these to cause her an aversion towards the door. Good luck.
